Clay Control / Shale Stabilization
An Engineered BioFluid (EBF™) for reservoir stabilization. CC3300 uses a unique dual functioning biopolymer chemically engineered to both encapsulate and electronically interact with the rock to reduce the generation of colloidal fines and eliminate this source of reservoir damage. The CC3300 biopolymer is chemically stable with reservoir colloids over a broad range of pH and salinity, allowing bound or “plated out” clays to remain immobile. The product targets the hydration of reactive (swelling) clays commonly encountered in well drilling and completion processes. CC3500 is a versatile product designed to be an alternative to KCl brines and other temporary clay control additives used to address clay hydration in fresh waters.
An EBF™ for chelating and maintaining reduced iron in contaminated reservoir formation waters. IronControl™ reacts with dissolved ferrous iron in formation, flow back and produced waters to prevent ferric iron phases from precipitating in the wellbore. IronControl™ keeps the iron in the solution at the molecular level allowing the iron to be flushed from the reservoir without damaging reservoir permeability. IronControl™ is a neat iron-control additive compatible over a broad range of pH and with the full range of Athena's completion fluid additives. IronControl™ allows operators and pumping service companies to target control for specific zones enriched in dissolved iron.
A proprietary formulation of specialized additives for oilfield systems where fouling and deposits of Iron compounds are of primary concern. IronControl-AS is proven effective in lab and field applications to inhibit the formation of problematic species such as Iron Sulphide and Iron Oxide / Hydroxide – in addition to strong contributions to scale & corrosion control. At elevated dose levels IronControl-AS will provide functionality as a “dissolver” of pre-formed Iron Oxide and Sulphide solids. IronControl-AS is compatible with other oilfield chemicals and can be used across the pH range – including acid stimulation treatments - and at TDS levels up to 200,000 ppm.

The product is a highly active, high performing non-ionic surfactant system formulated with biopolymer iron passivation properties. IronFlow™ is used in stimulation fluids where operators expect to encounter high concentrations of dissolved iron in the reservoir (>50 mg/L Total Fe2O3). IronFlow™ brings the low surface tension and interfacial tension properties of Athena's line of surfactants, but also offers unique and compatible iron control properties to maximize well bore efficiency over the life of the stimulation cycle.

Winterized version available – SI 101W.
A deposit control agent for oilfield applications. SIF10 is an effective all-round scale inhibitor for use in oilfield applications. SIF10 utilizes proven Phosphonate chemistry to control Calcium Carbonate and Barium Sulphate scales and is recommended for use in both fresh water and produced water systems with low iron contents. SIF10 is compatible with other oilfield chemistries and can be winterized with Methanol or another suitable agent, if necessary. Dose rates will vary based on water chemistry, with 200 – 300 ppm being typical for frac applications.

DrillMax is an easy-to-mix, biopolymer-based lubricant engineered for challenging conditions such as high rpm drilling, high rate of penetration (ROP), highly indurated “hard” rock drilling and drilling deviated holes.

An EBF™ for dust control. DustPath™ is a sulfate and chloride-free biopolymer dust control product used to keep unwanted particulate matter from entering air and water. Manufactured with a low carbon footprint, DustPath™ can be safely used for industrial and commercial construction sites, unimproved roads, and any number of existing industrial and public sites including parks, baseball fields, outdoor storage, and warehouses. In the mining industry, DustPath™ can be used on haul roads, trans-loading facilities, and mineral stockpiles to lower dust emissions, lower installation costs and reduce water consumption.
An EBF™ for preventative dust control in silica sands used in oilfield pressure fracturing applications. DustProp coats and encapsulates dust particles produced from handling the sand before and during the job. DustProp is a sulfate and chloride-free biopolymer that provides a safer alternative for silica dust control. DustProp keeps unwanted particulate matter from entering workspace air and can be safely used to reduce particles during all sand transfer points.
An engineered bio-flocculant for clarifying impaired waters with high Total Suspended Solids (TSS). Ideal for recirculating systems and slurries with up to 3% solids, by weight, of clays, rock flour, and cements.
A novel water softening agent for pre-treating hard make-up waters used for stimulation chemicals such as friction reducers and scale inhibitors. WS6900 removes calcium ion from your waters allowing for rapid and more complete hydration of your friction reducers while at the same time improving friction reducer efficiency. Treated make-up waters are key for maximizing performance of your products and WS6900 is specifically designed to manage variability from one source to another.
An efficient paraffin solvent designed to maintain oil production in reservoirs that are prone to paraffin precipitation and deposition. Au1 can be formulated with the stimulation fluids, or as a remediation chemical, as wax and other paraffin compounds accumulate in the well bore region.
Friction Reducer -Emulsions
Anionic - Freshwater
A freshwater FR designed for use in TDS less than 20K. This product is a cost-effective option for quick projects with low chloride soft water situation.
Anionic - Mid Brine
A versatile emulsion FR used to improve drag reduction across a wide variety of brine conditions and pHs. This workhorse product can cut down on products onsite, due to its ability to perform in 0-150K TDS. FRE-22i can be used in concentrations of 0.25 to 1.50 gpt depending on site conditions.
Anionic - High Brine
Anionic - High Brine
An amphoteric FR capable of performing with cationic tendencies in high brine waters. This cost-effective product is designed for use in 100,000 TDS water and higher.
A high molecular weight, low charge friction reducing emulsion. FRE-250 can be used at concentrations between 0.25 to 1.00 gpt depending on the brine conditions and fracturing fluid characteristics. The product is designed for use in low to high brine waters as high as 250K TDS.
Anionic - Low Brine
Anionic High Viscosity
A high molecular weight, slightly anionic friction reducer designed for use in fresh to low brine waters of 50K TDS or less.
A viscosifying FR for use in freshwater and high proppant loaded fluids. This product is recommended for use at 3.0 to 4.0 gpt.
Anionic - High Viscosity
At treatment rates of 3.0 to 4.0 gpt, FRS-3 friction reducer achieves high viscosity for proppant delivery. FRS-3 is a low-cost alternative to FRS-14 for use in freshwater fluids.
Anionic - High Brine / High Viscosity
A workhorse product that can be used in various brine levels, from low to high TDS (approx. 200K TDS), and across a wide range of pHs. The recommended treatment rates vary from 0.5 to 1.5 gpt. FRS-14 can be purchased with an integrated scale inhibitor option or used as a high viscosity FR in low brine waters adding value to the operation.
Anionic - Mid Brine
A mid-brine emulsion FR for use in 20-100K TDS.
FRE-33i can be used in high brine concentrations above 100,000 TDS.
Anionic - Freshwater
A high molecular weight, slightly anionic friction reducer designed for use in freshwater only at concentrations of 0.5 to 1.0 gpt.
A cationic suspension, easily dispersible FR designed for use in high brines. This cost-effective product can be used at concentrations from 0.5 to 1.5 gpt depending on brine conditions.
Load Recovery / Flow Enhancer
An Engineered BioFluid (EBFTM) for enhanced load recovery in fractionally wetted low permeability dolomitic reservoirs. FracFlow32 performs in complex and mature oil fields, including enhanced performance for heavy oil fractions. FracFlow32 has rapid forming wetting properties with exceptional Interfacial Tension (IFT) and dispersionproperties for the non alkane fraction over a broad range of API gravity petroleum. FracFlow32 is an
effective film-forming surfactant with surface tension reduction over a range of salinity and hardness in make-up and formation waters, particularly high brine reservoirs.
An EBFTM for lowering surface tension in fractionally wetted low permeability gas and gas/condensate reservoirs. The product is a highly active, high-performing non-ionic surfactant. FracFlow92 can be used as a wetting agent in stimulation fluids and full reservoir clean up. FracFlow92 is compatible in slick water, gel and acid-based fluid
systems and has a typical treatment range from 0.5 to 2.0 gallons per thousand (gpt).
An EBFTM for enhanced total load recovery in low permeability reservoirs. The product is a nano-scale emulsion that performs in complex and mature oil reservoirs.
FracFlow52 exhibits rapid wetting properties, exceptional surface and interfacial tension
reduction and non-alkane dispersion properties.
A multifunctional EBFTM for enhanced load recovery and iron control for unconventional reservoirs. FracFlow-RR enhances production in reservoirs with unusually high levels of dissolved iron in the formation waters and high asphaltene fractions in the oils. Interfacial tension reduction properties as well as the ability to disperse the heavy molecular fraction of oil and chelate ferrous iron before it oxidizes allows FracFlow-RR to address complex reservoir chemistry from the moment the reservoir is pressure fractured.
FracFlow55 is an EBFTM flow back nano-emulsion for low permeability siliceous reservoirs. FracFlow55 wets these high TOC reservoirs as well as mature oil fields
with similar mineralogy. The EBFTM exhibits rapid forming wetting properties, exceptional reduction of surface tension and interfacial tension, and non-alkane dispersion properties over a broad range of API gravity petroleum.
A custom-designed flow back nano-emulsion for oil and condensate reservoirs. FracFlow-920A is chemically formulated to reduce surface tension and destabilize crude oil emulsions in the fracture network and access hydrocarbons in the nano-porous shale matrix. FracFlow-920A’s rapidly wetting O/W interface produces exceptional surface tension and interfacial tension reduction while dispersing non-saturate hydrocarbons over a broad range of API gravity petroleum.
An EBFTM for lowering surface tension in fractionally wetted low permeability reservoirs. The product is a versatile high-performing non-ionic surfactant with excellent non-emulsifying properties. FracFlow95 can be used as a wetting agent in both primary and secondary stimulation fluids and is suitable in both water and diesel base fluids.

Ebreak2700 separates these fluids to improve petroleum production for our customers.

A high-performance Engineered BioFluid (EBFTM) non-emulsifier used in fracture
and matrix acidizing stimulation jobs. Ebreak2900 is a nonionic surfactant solution designed to perform in these jobs where low pH waters produced in the acid flushes and spears change the wettability of the near well bore region and reservoir. The product can be used as an additive in hydraulic fracturing fluids, with 15% HCl and as an after-flush fluid. The product is a water- based non-emulsifier that re-wets the near well bore region, lowering surface tension and guaranteeing oil-water breakout. NE 2900A can be used for a range of crude oil chemistries and API weight oils.
